Balloon Release - Risk Assessment

Balloon.co.uk is a long established company with a proven record in organising safe and successful balloon releases.

Helium gas
The helium we use is a safe inert gas. Where necessary our staff will transport cylinders on safety trolleys and ensure that when being used all cylinders are in a horizontal position to ensure no damage can occur due to a falling cylinder.
Members of the public will be kept away from the area where balloons are being inflated.
Unused cylinders will be stored in the company vehicle.
The BOC Gas Safety Sheet can also be viewed on our web site www.balloon.co.uk under the “Helium Gas” tab

Balloons
All balloons used by us are biodegradable. Balloons being prepared for release will not exceed 12” diameter so conforming to Civil Aviation Authority requirements.
Balloon inflation will take place in purpose built tubes or alongside release nets, both of which will be secured to fixed points using 500lb line.
Balloons will be hand tied avoiding the use of ribbon or plastic balloon valves which are not environmentally friendly.

Balloon storage
Once inflated, balloons will be retained in the tube or net until time of release.
